Small circles

Can anyone help? I seem to be getting these strange circles on my maps. Not exactly circles, Some times squares or a shape with many sides. My map has many line elements and I have hundreds of small circles at points along the line elements (roughness or elevation lines). I just want to get rid of them. Maps have been played around with in Global Mapper, and manipulated but I've often worked this way.

I should say that it's not all maps, just specifically a group from a specific job, so not necessarily a bug. Probably something simple, but it's driving me nuts 🙂 .... Anyone got an idea?
