fmachado Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Hello,Could somebody tell me how atmospheric stability can be quantified? Does it have something to do with the Monin-Obukhov Length?Besides, how do we take into account the atmospheric stability in WAsP calculations? Do we change the heat fluxes? How do we know what values to use? Thanks a lot,Fabio
fmachado Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Could somebody please help me with this matter?
Niels Gylling Mortensen Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Atmospheric stability has a lot to do with the M-O length, and you can search the internet for much more information.Yes, you can account for atmospheric stability in WAsP by changing the mean and RMS heat flux values; however, you should only do so after you've considered very carefully the elevation, roughness, shelter, and mast flow distortion. This is discussed elsewhere on the forum, see e.g. http://www.wasptechnical.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=314
