Hello!

I'm trying to import a .xyz File to the Map Editor. It is about 23.6 MB large and contains appr. 800,000 lines.

The Map Editor crashes at about one third of the import process. Is there a limit in size or are there any other known issues concerning this problem?

Thank you in advance! I hope anyone can help me!

In the meanwhile I found a solution by myself, so for everyone who i interested:

The Map Editor can import xyz files, but only gridded ones (I hope that is right). So for my file it did not work.
The program SAGA GIS (opensource) provides various import function. It can also import xyz files and convert them into many other formats. The program Quantim GIS (also opensource) can then calculate heightcountours from the rasterdata. After that these countourdata (shape files) can be converted to WAsP mape files with SAGA GIS.

Hey, it is really good to see that you got your issue solved by yourself. I have seen that SAGA GIS is an absolute solution for many issues I have been following the various problems over here and I found that most of them can be got correct with SAGA GIS.

Hi rexi,
yes thats right, SAGA GIS has really a lot of features. And I was surprised how fast SAGA GIS works with map data. No comparison to other free GIS tools, like Quantum GIS.
